Mark has over nine years of experience in the patent profession, working with a diverse range of clients – from start-ups to international corporations – across various technological fields. He has managed large patent portfolios and provided strategic intellectual property advice tailored to clients’ specific commercial goals.
Mark specialises in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK and Europe and also has experience handling patent prosecution in other global jurisdictions. Mark also has experience with opposition and appeal related matters in Europe.
His practice spans a wide array of technologies, with particular expertise in software-related inventions, including AI, fintech, blockchain, and computer-generated animation. He also has extensive experience in other technical areas, notably theme park innovations, automotive technologies, and telecommunications.
Mark began his career in the patent field in 2016 following the completion of a PhD in High Energy Particle Physics at the University of Birmingham, where his research focused on the properties of top quarks. He also holds a First-Class Master’s degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick.
Before entering the patent profession, Mark trained as an external auditor, gaining two and a half years of experience conducting financial audits.
