NordicNinja is the largest Japan-backed VC fund in Europe with a globally unique VC structure that combines large enterprises and financial institutions – operating as a fully independent VC. The first fund launched in 2019 made 20 investments, including Varjo (FIN), Mavenoid (SWE), ReadyPlayerMe (EST), DappRadar (LIT), BOLT, (EST), Einride (SWE) and Veriff (EST) – the three later reaching the unicorn status. The newly launched second fund of €200M focuses on Series A/B ready companies from Northern Europe. The fund has a broad investment mandate but focuses on fulfilling the Japanese desire towards opportunities within sustainability and the digital society. The fund is “Article 8” qualified aiming to promote environmental and social characteristics and is operated by a team dedicated to “Invest in the future we want to live in”.
