Want a deck that grabs the attention of busy investors? Google “how to create a pitch deck” and you’ll find the same piece of advice in countless articles, LinkedIn posts and YouTube videos: open with a punchy and powerful purpose statement on your first slide.

That seems like great advice: start with why your business exists and the problem it solves — and do so in words that are short, memorable and easy to understand.

But capturing your big “why” in words is far easier said than done — especially if your product is innovative and tech-based. Often, the temptation is to overwhelm that potential investor with technical detail and internal language. (All the more so when it’s your “baby” we’re talking about!)

But help is at hand. In this free workshop, you’ll learn how to craft a powerful purpose statement that excites investors — and nudges them to say “yes”.

You’ll leave armed with strategies for talking about about your business in a way that:

– Makes your pitch deck stand out from the hundreds of others in an investor’s inbox

– Arms associates with the words to sell you to their colleagues as an investment idea

– Instantly conveys what your business is — and why investors should be excited to fund it

– Gets you off to a strong, confident start when you’re standing in front of investors

The workshop will be brought to you by Dr Clare Lynch and Teresa North, co-founders of Broom & Moon — an agency on a mission to build unicorns by helping them get clear on their purpose. Some background on your hosts:

Teresa has an uncanny instinct for identifying that special magic message that will resonate most with customers, employees and investors. It’s a talent that’s won her the adulation of CEOs and other senior leaders at big name brands like Microsoft. It’s also why the CEO of a digital media brand recently credited Teresa with perfecting the pitch that clinched their Series A funding.

Clare’s superpower is finding the words that perfectly capture who you are, the reason you exist, and why customers and investors should give you their money. Clare has decades of experience working with big brands such as Amazon, Sainsbury’s and the European Central Bank — as well as scale-ups in the AI space, such as Afiniti, Sapia and GDi. She has a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Join us for this event at Peterhouse in the beautiful Whittle Building, named after tech pioneer Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine. After the workshop, please stay for drinks and networking.
