Fazal Chaudry is a principal systems engineer, with over 15 years of experience in designing and delivering complex systems.  With 8 years spent in the space industry, working in the field of delivering interplanetary probes, and earth orbiting space segments, with organisations such as Airbus, QinetiQ, and European Space Agency.  Fazal than went onto to spend 3 years working in the surgical robot’s industry, with a particular focus on AI based surgical control.  He is currently the lead control systems architect at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), working on delivering the control architecture for the UK’s flagship fusion pilot plant STEP.  In this role, Fazal has identified and led an innovation initiative to explore the application of quantum technologies, where there are known technology gaps and challenges in realising fusion.  He is current leading two innovate UK funded quantum computing projects for fusion applications.  Fazal is also championing the development of quantum technologies for cross industry applications, to widen the UK economic impact of quantum technology development from fusion.
