The University of Cambridge is the beating heart of the Cambridge ecosystem – generating world changing ideas and working with a wide variety of partners to turn new thinking into truly ground-breaking commercial realities. As one of the world’s top Universities, we contribute nearly £30 billion to the UK economy and support more than 86,000 jobs across the UK. Just over £23 billion of our economic impact is generated by the companies spun out from – or closely associated with – the University, as well as research and commercial activities carried out at the University. This includes the impact of 178 spinouts and 213 start-up companies that have connections to the University from Cambridge Unicorns to the most exciting new ventures addressing global challenges. It is the biggest impact of any university in the UK.
