Sherry Coutu CBE is a successful entrepreneur and investor with over 25 years of experience in the digital sector. She has established, floated, and sold several businesses in the financial services industry, including one valued at over $1 billion with 100M in profits.
Coutu is an active early-stage investor, having invested in more than 70 businesses, such as LinkedIn, Zoopla, and Joby. She serves on the boards of several companies, charities, and universities and is a frequent public speaker, having won and judged the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Her expertise lies in consumer, internet, information services, and clean energy. Now, she spends 60% of her time on for-profit activities and 40% on philanthropic activities.
As a philanthropist, Sherry has supported various charitable causes, such as founding Founders4Schools and Digital Boost, which support teachers and small business leaders with mentors. She also helped found the Prince’s Trust Technology Leadership Group, which supports young people in the UK in starting their own businesses, and served on the Cancer Research UK venture board. She is also a Harvard Business School European Advisory Council member, which supports the school’s mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.
In addition to these activities, Sherry wrote the Scaleup Report & founded the ScaleUp Institute, which supports entrepreneurs in scaling up their businesses, and served as a Trustee of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which aims to put the power of computing and digital making into the hands of people all over the world.
