About the role
Cambridge Wireless, the organiser of CamTechWeek, is looking for volunteers aged over 18, to support the logistics and smooth running of each of our events. Now in its fourth year, Cam Tech Week is offering a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience, enhance your CV, learn from industry experts, and to support a tech-based not-for-profit organisation.  We can offer a supportive and inclusive environment, with friendly staff, and in-person/online training will be provided for the role.  

Volunteers play a vital role in the delivery. No experience is needed to volunteer but we are looking for people who are:

  • Are available 14 – 17 September (volunteers do not need to be available throughout, they will be able to select days/times).  We are flexible but prefer a minimum of one day’s commitment per volunteer.
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Have a positive ‘can do attitude’
  • Are happy to get involved with all kinds of different roles (see below)

If volunteers already have relevant skills or experience this is always welcome e.g. additional languages, event management, first aid, stewarding.

Volunteers could be asked to:

  • Help set up and pack up reception desk
  • Help set up our venues this may include moving furniture, banners, equipment
  • Support on the registration desk (handing out badges, dealing with queries)
  • Support delegate arrivals – hand out badges, operating ticket machines, scanning QR codes
  • Check directional signage and walking delegates to/from venues
  • Take speakers through for their briefings
  • Set up speaker and chair notes
  • Put reserved signs out for speakers/chairs/awards finalists (front row)
  • Check water is available for speakers and is refilled during break
  • Seat latecomers in appropriate reserved seats
  • Tidy up cups and glasses during breaks, emptying bins and helping ensure the venue is kept clean and safe
  • Assist AV team with mic running for Q&A in the sessions
  • Support exhibition by taking exhibitors to their stands
  • Wear a CamTechWeek T-shirt
